As part of Girls Are Awesome global partnership with adidas Originals, we ventured to L.A. with the aim to increase female representation in the art scene. We made a video series with 5 amazing people talking about their craft and being rolemodels.

Zorah Olivia's visually creative upbringing has led her to weave her own path as a professional photographer, now published regularly in the likes of Thrasher Magazine.

"Honestly at this point, it's not really about me anymore it's like how I can influence and inspire younger generations and even people my age. It's really all I want to do, TO GIVE BACK IN ANY POSSIBLE WAY"

L.A. based Loveis Wise is an illustrator whose work emphasizes the bonds between humans and the deep joy we all can share when we make space for one another.

"I started creating in order to heal myself and work through some of the things that I was going through with my mental health and my own life. To be able to show other people kids like me, the possibilities of what they can be and that they can be so much more"

Meet L.A.-based painter Jillian Evelyn, whose work focussed on contorted, geometric female figures, and challenges societal expectations of femininity.

Straight outta L.A., Dessie Jackson is a mixed-media artist who portrays female sensuality in a powerful and uncompromising way. Her advice? "Keep making bad work and show it to people." Work through it!

"I think it's important to make bad work. You have to make bad things. You have to do mediocre things and you have to SHOW PEOPLE THOSE BAD AND MEDIOCRE THINGS"

Meet L.A. illustrator and digital creative Charlie McHarg aka @appleshift4. Charlie's experimental videography work will transport you back to the '90s

"I don't think you can put anyone on a pedestal unless you truly know them and they can just bring basic joy every day to you. That's a role model to me. Try everything, you don't have to stay in one lane. Make a mess and do stuff wrong"
